Get Back to Guitar!

Online coaching for guys who used to play — and are ready to mean it this time.

You picked up a guitar in your teens or twenties and something clicked.

Maybe you were in a band. Maybe you just played at home. Maybe you got pretty good.

Then life happened. Work. Family. Other priorities. The guitar ended up in the corner, in the loft, under the bed.

And now it's calling you back.

You're not a beginner. You know how to play — at least you used to. But right now it feels like you're starting from scratch, except with the added frustration of knowing you were better than this.

You sit down with the guitar and:

  • Don't know what to practice
  • Feel like you should be further along by now
  • Go round in circles — same riffs, same patterns, same dead ends
  • Watch YouTube videos and still feel stuck
  • Start again... then drift again

Sound familiar?

What's actually going on

Most returning players try to pick up where they left off. They look for tabs, watch tutorials, download apps, buy courses — and wonder why none of it sticks.

The content isn't the problem. You've probably got plenty of that.

What's missing is someone who actually works on you!

Your specific habits, your blocks, your confidence, your relationship with the instrument.

That's the difference between guitar lessons and guitar coaching.

I don't just teach you what to play…

I work on the person doing the playing.

"Returning to guitar after life's adventures and diversions — the day job, family life, five-minute tasks — then I discovered Jimmy's coaching and it gave me a focus and direction to achieve the best results. There are a multitude of resources available today, but nothing beats the human interaction with the right person."

How it works

Everything is delivered online which means wherever you are in the world, we can work together.

Sessions run for 90 minutes — not the standard 30 or 60 you'll find elsewhere. That's intentional. Real progress takes space. We don't just scratch the surface and send you away scales to practice! The difference is we DO the work together.

Between sessions, you have direct access to me. Send me videos of what you're working on and I'll give you specific, honest feedback. No waiting until next session to find out you've been doing it wrong.

The approach is structured, personal, and built around where you are and what YOU actually want. Not some generic syllabus or run of the mill instructional material.

We work together to:

Reactivate what's already there.
Reconnect with the guitar so it feels enjoyable again.
Rebuild properly, so progress actually sticks.

"Have not played for over 20 years and reached out to Jimmy for help. We did our sessions over Zoom and it is SO much fun. Jimmy has accelerated my learning massively."

Dave E

"I learned in my teens and have picked up the guitar only intermittently since then. Thanks to Jimmy I now have a great programme for improvement — and being accountable on a weekly basis is going to reignite the fire again."

Who this is for

This is for you if:

  • You've played before but feel rusty, inconsistent, or stuck in a rut
  • You don't know what to practice anymore — or practice the same things over and over
  • You've tried YouTube, apps, and online courses, and nothing has really clicked
  • You want to do this properly this time — not just dabble
  • You're willing to show up, do the work, and trust the process

The guys I work with are in their late 30s to early 60s. Life has settled a bit. There's a decent guitar gathering dust somewhere. They remember what it felt like to play and they want that back — not as a hobby they'll drift away from again, but properly this time.

This isn't for you if you're looking for the occasional session when you feel like it, or want to dip in and out. I work with a small number of committed clients at any one time and I take that commitment seriously — from both sides.

"I'd developed plenty of bad habits, which Jimmy quickly identified and helped me fix. This really kickstarted my progress on the instrument again. My playing improved more than in the previous five years combined."

Alex K, Salisbury

"I use a huge amount of internet resources — but still always look forward to my session with Jimmy. Two of the key ingredients he provides are skills coaching and mentoring. The latter is often overlooked and undervalued, but in terms of motivation it is indispensable. His encouragement has helped me keep my frustrations in perspective and gradually overcome the early hurdles."

What you'll come away with

  • Solid foundations that actually hold up
  • A clear practice approach — so you know exactly what you're doing and why
  • The confidence to sit down and play without second-guessing yourself
  • Honest feedback and real accountability
  • Progress that makes sense, in a timeframe that doesn't feel like forever

Quiet confidence. Clear direction. Real progress.

"I have tried other teachers and had no connection with them — which stunts growth as a guitarist. Jimmy teaches in a way that links things together so it's big breakthroughs in small steps. Not too overwhelming."

Darren S

"My lack of progress was the biggest frustration. I was getting nowhere on my own. I now know exactly what to practice and how to apply it. I used to hate practicing some techniques — now I can do them and really enjoy them."

About Jimmy

I first picked up a guitar in the mid-90s. Like a lot of guys, I just wanted to be in a band.

What started as messing around in a bedroom turned into something that stuck for the next 30 years. I've gigged, toured nationally and internationally, played festivals, recorded music all whilst working in education and coaching.

Over the past two decades I've worked with hundreds of guitarists — beginners, returners, and players who'd been stuck for years. I've seen the same patterns come up over and over: too much information, not enough structure, practice without progress, motivation that fades as soon as real life gets in the way.

Anyway, my job isn't to impress you with what I've done or what I can play… it's to work out what's actually getting in your way — and help you get past it.

I deliberately work with a small number of clients. That's intentional. If we work together, you get my full attention.

"Jimmy is a teacher who goes above and beyond. He adapts to you and is genuinely concerned about what you're interested in learning. He's helped me strive for a bit more than I would have settled for on my own. Having face to face time with an expert, who takes a personal interest in your progress and achievement, is  something you just can't get from Youtube "

Start with a GTR Roadmap Session

Every client starts here. No exceptions.

60 minutes, one-to-one. We find out exactly where your playing is, where it's stuck, and what's actually been holding you back — it's rarely what you think.

You leave with a clear, honest plan for getting where you want to be. Whether you continue with me or not, you'll know precisely what to work on and why.

This is how coaching works. You wouldn't start with a personal trainer without an assessment. Same thing here.

(£50 · Booked once your application's accepted.)

The Investment

Coaching is a minimum 3-month commitment. Players who dip in and out don't get results. The ones who commit to a process and show up consistently do. Every time.

Pay in full
3 months — £597
6 months — £1,194
12 months — £2,388
Fully committed from day one, and we never have to talk about money again.

Monthly — £200/month
Same 3-month minimum. Easier on cash flow — but you're not dipping out early because life gets busy, or because a few good weeks make you think you've cracked it. That's usually exactly when the real work begins.

Before we start, I'll ask you one question: are you in for the full programme, whether progress comes quickly or takes a bit longer?

If the answer's yes, we're good to go.

Ready to get back to it?

I work with a small number of online clients at any one time. When a spot opens up, I'm looking for the right person — not just the next person.

If what you've read here feels like it was written for you, the next step is simple.

Hit the button below and fill in a short application. Takes about five minutes. Tell me where you're at with your playing, what's been getting in the way, and what you want out of this.

I'll read it personally and reply within 48 hours. If it looks like a fit, we'll book your GTR Roadmap Session and get started.
